Beginner's Fruit Salad

Recipe: Beginner's Fruit Salad



1 20-oz. can of pineapple chunks
1 small cantaloupe, peeled and cut into bite-sized chunks
1 small honeydew melon, peeled and cut into bite-sized chunks
2 pints of strawberries, cleaned, de-stemmed and cut in half
3 bananas, peeled and cut into half-inch slices
1 cup whipping cream
2 Tbl powdered sugar

Instructions: Put all of the fruit in a large bowl except the bananas. (All of the fruit can be prepared in advance except the bananas. The bananas need to be added at the last minute with the whipping cream because they begin to turn brown.) Chill fruit while you are whipping your cream.

Whip the cream with the powdered sugar until light, fluffy and the cream holds stiff peaks.

Now add sliced bananas to the chilled fruit. Pour the whipped cream over the fruit and stir to mix into the fruit.

The salad is good even on day 2 or 3. The bananas won't look pretty anymore and the whipping cream won't be fluffy at this point, but the salad still tastes fine.

Serving Suggestions: Always serve this cold. Don't let it sit on a buffet in the sun for long periods.
